CoR adopts ECR opinion on creating better conditions for local SMEs

Adopted today by the CoR Plenary session, the opinion on "Supporting SMEs in regional value chains – fostering the proximity economy" by ECR member Oszkár Seszták calls on creating better conditions for local SMEs in regional value chains, an aspect that should be "an integral part of Europe's strategies to enhance economic resilience and territorial cohesion", said the rapporteur.

ECR re-affirms "think small first" principle in terms of future of European SMEs

The ECR Group in the European Committee of the Regions today held an event on the future of European SMEs. Following ECR Group President Marco Marsilio's opening remarks, the panel saw the participation of various experts and stakeholders. The event was concluded by ECR member Oszkár Seszták, whose opinion on family-run and local SMEs will be voted during the February CoR plenary session.

Marco Marsilio re-elected President of the ECR Group

During its constitutive meeting in Brussels, the ECR Group in the CoR has re-elected Marco Marsilio (Italy) as President. Władysław Ortyl (Poland) has been re-elected First Vice-President. The Vice-Presidency will be held by Juraj Droba (Slovakia), Anna Magyar (Hungary) and Dagmar Škodová Parmová (Czech Republic), with Ilpo Heltimoinen (Finland) as Treasurer. President Marco Marsilio commented: "The ECR Group in the CoR reaffirms today its strengths and values. We are the political group of realism and common sense, a political force that brings together local and regional authorities that listen to the real concerns of people. We are committed to a more prosperous, secure and decentralised Europe. With the new mandate of the CoR, we are ready to start our work with renewed enthusiasm to make the voice of conservative local and regional leaders heard in Europe".
