Milano-Cortina to host the 2026 Winter Olympics

Under the careful leadership of our Member, Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region, Italian sport has won a major victory. On 24 June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially announced that the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held jointly by Milan and Cortina.
Luca Zaia had believed in this great success from the outset, preparing the bid with his colleague Attilio Fontana, president of the Lombardy Region and with Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan. Following the ceremony during which the decision about the host of the Olympics was announced, Luca Zaia said that he was very pleased, particularly for Cortina, which would host the Olympic Games for a second time, after having hosted the 1956 games.
We congratulate our Member on the successful bid for hosting the Olympic Games.
