Mayor Paweł Grzybowski represented the ECR CoR Group during the 17th meeting of the European Committee of the Regions' Joint Consultative Committee with North Macedonia, held in Skopje on 11 December 2019. The meeting focused on the role of local and regional authorities in the process of accession to the European Union, and on how to boost economic development at the local level.

The event was an opportunity for European Committee of the Regions Members to meet their local counterparts from North Macedonia and to exchange best practices at local level that can be replicated in the countries preparing for accession to the European Union. Experiences shared by Members from Central-Eastern European countries, where citizens shook of the shackles of communism only two decades ago, were of particular value.

In conjunction with the official meeting, Paweł Grzybowski, Mayor of Rypin in Poland and a Member of the ECR Group in the CoR, held a number of bilateral meetings with North Macedonian local officials, discussing Poland's preparations for EU membership and accession talks of North Macedonia.​
