Roberto Ciambetti: "Innovation is key to removing micro plastics from our environment"

Mr Roberto Ciambetti, President of the Veneto Regional Council, is leading the CoR's work on preventing plastic pellet losses to reduce microplastic pollution. In a first exploratory debate in the ENVE Commission, Mr Ciambetti introduced the topic by way of acknowledging that micro-plastics have "invaded every part of our plant impacting our economies, and well-being of animals". He called for a "need to understand the situation in order to minimise the negative impact on the competitiveness of EU pellet producers".

Excellent news for Abruzzo following today's meeting in L'Aquila between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and our President Marco Marsilio. The Development and Cohesion Agreement between the government and the region secures many important investments which will increase its competitiveness and connectivity.

One of the main debates of the January CoR plenary session was dedicated to the conclusions of the COP28 conference. Representing our Group was ECR Vice-President Juraj Droba who reiterated the importance of defending technological neutrality: "this is why we need to continue to pursue our emission reduction goals in the most realistically challenging way. Each country free should be free to choose its own strategy".
