Elia Delmiglio: "No to EU ideological approach on air quality targets"

The improvement of air quality and the achievement of ever lower concentrations of pollutants is an ambition of fundamental importance for the protection of the health of citizens by European, national and local institutions. Michele Pais: Investment in regions essential for success of interoperability

At the ECON Commission meeting on 15 February 2023, CoR rapporteur Michele Pais presented his working document to CoR members, calling for a proper involvement and sufficient funding of local and regional authorities in the governance of interoperability. "The Committee of the Regions must work to ensure that cities and regions are appropriately involved throughout the process. Above all, we have to ensure that the costs of digital transition are not all borne by local administrations".

President Marsilio: "we must defend our digital sovereignty"

The sudden geopolitical instability generated by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has exposed Europe to its weaknesses, including in the area of the EU’s digital policies. In an address to the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age, Margrethe Vestager, ECR President Marco Marsilio called for "rethinking our common actions to defend our digital sovereignty".

Building an EU Energy Union will only be achieved by not applying a one-size-fits-all approach

The success of building an EU Energy Union lies on the three long-established objectives of EU energy policy: security of supply, sustainability and competitiveness. In the CoR February plenary session, with special guest speaker Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President, Mr Oldřich Vlasák stated that these objectives can only be "achieved through developing the appropriate infrastructure, and by not applying a one-size-fits-all approach".
