EU regions vote to include biofuels and technological openness to its draft opinion on "A Just and Sustainable Transition for Automotive Regions" 

The European Committee of the Regions' (CoR) Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER) voted to adopt amendments by President Marco Marsilio and ECR member Matteo Bianchi on the potential of biofuels to mitigate climate change and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Biofuels also contribute to Europe's energy sovereignty and make the transition of automotive regions' supply chains economically and socially sustainable.

Mr Marsilio, the President of Italy's Abruzzo region, stated: "We have defended the principle of technological neutrality as the most effective approach to guarantee results in the long and short term".

The opinion will next go to adoption by the CoR Plenary in October 2023.
