President Marsilio and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni sign the Development and Cohesion Agreement for Abruzzo Region

Excellent news for Abruzzo following today's meeting in L'Aquila between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and our President Marco Marsilio. The Development and Cohesion Agreement between the government and the region secures many important investments which will increase its competitiveness and connectivity.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has arrived in L'Aquila for the signing of the Development and Cohesion Funds agreement with the Abruzzo Region represented by its President Marco Marsilio. The document was signed in the presence of Italy's Minister for European Affairs, South and Cohesion Policies Raffaele Fitto and all the Abruzzo mayors.

"This is a great victory for Abruzzo, thanks to the close cooperation with the Prime Minister and Minister Raffaele Fitto, we managed to increase the funding for our region by half a billion compared to the past programming period. In fact, the agreement provides for EUR 1.2 billion in investments for about 200 ambitious projects" declared the ECR Group CoR President Marsilio.

The agreement signed by the Italian Prime Minister and President Marsilio secured national government's financial commitment for the speeding up of the railway line connecting Pescara to Rome and confirmed multi-million investment for the port of Giulianova, which are among the main infrastructural projects of strategic importance for the Abruzzo Region.

"Today's agreement will allow implementation of new projects throughout the Abruzzo territory, in addition to those already started. We are committed to continue reducing the gap that still exists in comparison to the most developed regions of Italy" concluded President Marsilio.
