ECR Member Fabrizio Santori today hosted an EU Local Dialogue in Rome on "YEPs and Youth in dialogue, politics in Rome and among new generations" focusing on the role of youth in politics and on the importance of engaging with local young communities.
"Strengthening the dialogue between youth and institutions, both at local and European level, is crucial to foster participation in politics and to make sure that the voice of young people is heard and considered when political decisions are taken", said Mr Santori.
The event saw the participation of local councillors, experts from private sector organisations and YEP applicants. The "Young Elected Politician" program promoted by the European Committee of the Regions was highlighted as one of the useful initiatives that allow young people to actively participate in European politics.
ECR Member and CoR Vice-President Matteo Bianchi was among the speakers of the event. "Events such as the one of today can contribute to foster youth participation and allow us, CoR members, to better understand their needs and the local perspective on what needs to be done for regions and territories"
