ECR members at Interreg GO event celebrating Gorizia-Nova Gorica Capital of Culture

ECR Vice-President Juraj Droba, the President of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga and ECR member Pavel Branda spoke today at the "Interreg GO!" event organized by the DG Regio of the European Commission in the twin cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, situated on the Italian-Slovenian border. These cities jointly hold the title of European Capital of Culture in 2025. Discussions during the event focused on the role of Interreg territorial cooperation programs in addressing shared challenges and opportunities.

Marsilio: Disappointment at European Commission's Automotive Action Plan, which fails to meet the sector's demands

Following the publication on 5 March of the European Commission's Automotive Action Plan, ECR President Marco Marsilio stated that it only "partially meets the sector's demands" adding that the ECR Group regrets the blatant lack of progress on "technological neutrality, biofuels, and on the 2035 diesel and combustion engine vehicles ban".

ECR Member and Treasurer Ilpo Heltimoinen hosted the ECR Local Dialogue "Strengthening regional resilience" in Lappeenranta, Finland. The event saw the participation of Riikka Purra, Finland's Minister of Finance, Sebastian Tynkkynen, Member of the European Parliament, and Carina Jäntti, ECR member and City Councillor in Kotka, Finland.

ECR Group succeeds in obtaining 1st Vice-Presidency of NAT and Vice-Presidency of COTER Commissions

During the constitutive meetings of the CoR's Commissions, the ECR Group secures two very key positions with Italy's Roberto Ciambetti being elected 1st Vice-President of the NAT (Natural Resources) Commission, and Slovakia's Juraj Droba as 2nd Vice-President of the COTER (Territorial cohesion policy and EU budget) Commission.

During a CoR plenary debate with Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, our ECR VP Juraj Droba urged for the future Affordable Housing Plan and other housing initiatives to "respect the Treaty competencies and the subsidiarity principle, allowing Member States, cities and regions the flexibility to target the funds and implement the plans according to their needs".
