Conservative local and regional leaders in Lublin outline vision for a safe and competitive Europe

The ECR Group in the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) today held its second Summit of Conservative local and regional leaders in Lublin, Poland, to outline the solutions needed to make European regions more resilient to geopolitical challenges, and to revitalise European competitiveness. Hosted by the Marshal of Lubelskie Region, Jarosław Stawiarski, the event featured several high-level speakers, including President of the ECR Party, Mateusz Morawiecki MP and ECR CoR Group President, Marco Marsilio.

A Cohesion policy aligned to today's challenges and built on a pragmatic approach. The ECR Group welcomed Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Cohesion and Reform, who presented the mid-term review of the Coehesion Policy and welcome the plan for a Cohesion Policy that enhance financing programs for key strategic areas.

ECR Group spearheads urgent resolution in a bid to save the automotive industry

The European Committee of the Regions has today adopted an urgent resolution on "strengthening the territorial dimension in the implementation of the Industrial Action Plan for the European Automotive Sector". The initiative from the ECR Group was a reaction to the European Commission's publication of the Action Plan for the automotive industry, described as "insufficient to address the crisis in the sector", by President Marco Marsilio.

"Competitiveness needs a more pragmatic approach", says ECR VP Droba

The European Committee of the Regions hosted today a debate with Enrico Letta, Former Italian Prime Minister and author of the report on the European Single Market. The debate focused on the topic of competitiveness, following the presentation by the European Commission of a plan to boost the Competitiveness Compass, which confirmed the urgent need for a simplification, a reduction in regulatory burdens and lower energy prices.
