Ádám Karácsony - "Education is key to fighting antisemitism"

"Local and regional authorities across Europe should promote the fight against prejudice and antisemitism. We should all commit to create a more inclusive and safe future for Jewish communities in the European Union" declared Ádám Karácsony during the adoption of his CoR opinion on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life (2021-2030) at the April SEDEC Commission meeting of the Committee of the Regions.

Roberto Ciambetti: Promotion of a healthy lifestyle cannot lead to new EU taxes

At the meeting of the Working Group on Health during the fifth plenary session of the Conference on the Future of Europe held in Strasbourg on 25-26 March, ECR member Roberto Ciambetti (President of the Veneto regional council, Italy) stressed that the proposals presented by Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič did not take into consideration the ongoing war in Ukraine. According to Mr Ciambetti, new taxes on food would increase prices of basic goods for our citizens, and we cannot allow this during wartime.

ECR President calls on the CoR to support Ukraine’s EU candidate country status

"The challenges are huge. A great wave of human solidarity and assistance to those in need, along with resistance to aggression, has been set in motion", said ECR CoR Group President Marshal Władysław Ortyl during the ninth edition of the European Summit of Regions and Cities, held in Marseille under the theme "Citizens at the heart of Europe". Mr Ortyl attended the summit remotely.

"The situation in Ukraine is unprecedented and that's why a unique approach to cross-border cooperation with our eastern neighbour will be needed once the war is over", said Marshal Władysław Ortyl during the panel on cross-border cooperation at the Marseille Summit.
