Matteo Bianchi on the Conference on the Future of Europe

During last week Matteo Bianchi, an ECR Member from Varese in Italy, took the floor to discuss the Conference on the Future of Europe. The results and conclusions of the Conference came up for discussion at the mid-term Plenary of the European Committee of the Regions, at which the Parliamentary Co-Chair of the Conference, Guy Verhofstadt, was present, and were followed by a vote on the CoR's resolution on the conference.

More help needed for EU regions hosting refugees from Ukraine

The effects of the war in Ukraine, ways to help refugees and the impact on cohesion funds were topics of discussion at the European Committee of the Regions' plenary session meeting in Brussels, in which Marshal Władysław Ortyl took active part. The ECR Group First Vice-President called on the EU institutions to provide EU regions hosting the highest number of refugees with more financial assistance.

Local and regional authorities adopt Anna Magyar's opinion on EU enlargement

In the June plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions, members adopted by overwhelming majority ECR Vice-President Anna Magyar's opinion, which calls for all Western Balkan countries as well as Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to join the EU as soon as possible provided they meet the accession criteria.

Pavel Branda and the benefits of cross-border cooperation

This June, Paris saw the hosting of Borders Forum as a part of the French Presidency of the European Union. The forum's focus was captured in its title "Cross border territories: fatalism or resilience?" and was attended by ECR Member Mr. Pavel Branda, Deputy Mayor of Rádlo Municipality in Czechia, and ECR Coordinator in the COTER Commission, who was one of the key speakers.
