Under the rapporteurship of our ENVE Coordinator, Marshal Chełstowski, the opinion on the energy package on gas, hydrogen and methane emissions was adopted by overwhelming majority in the October CoR plenary session.

President Marsilio: EU energy policy has failed and needs to be revised
"I think the time has come to reflect on what has made the EU so weak; our energy policy needs particular attention and should be revised". So said the president of the Abruzzo region in Italy and of the ECR Group in the European Committee of the Regions, Marco Marsilio, speaking at the plenary session of the CoR in Brussels, during the European Week of Regions and Cities.

Presidents of regions call for additional funds to address the Ukrainian refugee crisis at ECR workshop
During the 151st CoR plenary session on 10-12 October, the ECR political group in the CoR hosted its annual workshop. This year's workshop was entitled "Refugees fleeing the war: the role of border regions" and discussed regional efforts in the Ukrainian refugee crisis and the EU tools available to address it. Conclusions were also drawn about the ongoing interpretation of and distinction made between legal and illegal immigrants.

Summer camps for children from Ukraine organised by ECR members a big success
The European Committee of the Regions in cooperation with the Association of Ukrainian Cities, promoted the idea of European regions and cities organising summer camps for Ukrainian children, as an act of solidarity that offers a sense of normality to some of the millions of Ukrainian children whose lives have been shaken by the war. The summer camps are part of a broader show of solidarity by the EU’s cities and regions, ranging from humanitarian aid to twinnings and commitments to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.
